My Dad sadly passed away on the 24th of May 2007 In The London Hospital of a blood clot on his lung..

This is the service I wrote for my Dad for his funeral..

My Dad was born on the 25th of February 1950 in Islington North London.
The son of Fred and Cissie and a brother of Gwen..
As my Dad was growing up he had a love for boxing and weight lifting.
My dad would also tell me many stories about his life and his childhood.

I will always remember my Dad telling us how his sister Gwen would always torment him with a mop and our Dad would hide in a cupboard. How he used to look through this hole and see this mop head bopping up and down and he would be really scared.

My Dad had a best friend called Derek, who remains to this day his best friend.. Also Pat and George.. George was my Dad's drinking partner, my Dad thought the world of them both..

My Dad met my Mum many years ago and went on to marry and had us kids. Glenn Joanne Samantha and Adam.
He had three grandsons, Rhys, Jack and Kain. And a son in law Peter who was our Dad’s odd job man, who our Dad loved and respected.

My Dad loved to tell us what he got up to in his day like how he'd drink 32 pints in one night and that’s not including the Vodka chasers
our dad sure loved to have a drink. Our Dad loved people and was very much a people person. He loved people from all walks of life and always had time for anyone he talked to. My Dad was a very social person. He was also a doorman for many clubs and pubs with one of his good friends Micky Pugsly. He also sold bent gear like Chanel No5 and music tapes.

One thing we loved about my Dad was no matter whom we took over to his flat he would always welcome them and be nice. That was our Dad, he also really loved being in the company of women and would call them ‘babe’

My Dad was also a cab driver he loved to drive and that job allowed him to meet so many people. Our Dad was a very big man with a big heart as well. And he always smelt of Bronley he just loved the stuff. He would even pour it into his washing machine, Bath; you name it he would pour it. As kids we will always remember his money even smelling of it.

My Dad gave up cab driving and put in for his HGV which he passed; My Dad drove all over the world in his lorry meeting new people from all walks of life, it was his biggest love. Our Dad really loved his music he did, he had a massive collection of all sorts of music ranging from R&B to Kenny Rogers, and Kenny Rogers really reminds Me of our Dad. Another of his particular favourites was Neil Diamond he would often get up and sing Love on the Rocks

Sadly 4 years ago (2003) My dad became ill he was Diabetic and got a
blister on his toe which got mistreated which resulted in him having two of his toes removed. The doctors managed to save our Dads leg he spent a good few weeks in hospital.. About a year later he went on to have two more toes removed and my Dad was no longer able to work and this hit our Dad hard.

And the next 4 years didn’t get any better for my Dad; it was one thing
after another. We remember him saying he walked into the pub one day ordered a drink and said 'Right that’s me lot' and he never drank again. And he didn’t!

In the end my Dad became a lonesome man hardly ever going out and at times would get very depressed. He said to us one day that he had lost his life all in a few years and found it hard to deal with. He just couldn’t believe that a couple of years before hand he was still driving his big lorry all over the world going out with his mates. Just doing what he always did, And our Dad found it hard.

Sadly my Dad became really ill and was taken into hospital where he died 5 weeks later from a blood clot on his lungs. Our Dad was just 57 years old.

And as im sitting typing this I still cannot believe my Dad has gone.
Our dad was one of the nicest people we knew, he was our dad and we really loved him. We feel like we have been robbed. In our hearts is where our dad will always remain. Thank you Dad for our beautiful memories xxx

I will always love you Dad and I miss you more every day.. They say they only take the best.. And in my eyes you were simply the best.. Sam x x x x
